Face To Face With Mohnish Behl

Actor Mohnish Behl is back as host after a gap of almost five years. He debuted as a host with Sony TV’s Bachke Rehna which brought him accolades.

Currently seen co-hosting Star Plus’ Star Vivaah with Additi Shirwaiker the actor is doing a good job. What better choice than having Mohnish as host? The actor who is happily married to actress Ekta for the past 18 years has recently become a father the second time over.

Very much a family man Monish makes it a point to talk to his wife Ekta on the phone every now and then to inquire about his daughters. The actor then settles down for a chat but not before whispering sweet-nothings to his wife.

In this interview, Mohnish talks about his family, the show, the values he wants to instill in his daughters and much more…

What prompted you to host Star Vivaah?

The concept and approach of the show really appealed to me. First of all, it is a tremendous social platform. Secondly, my exposure, on a personal level, to different people will help me grow as a human being. Thirdly, I accepted because it is airing on Star Plus. I keep joking with them saying, ‘You have shown so many fights on saas-bahus, now do some good work by bringing people together!’

What according to you is the mantra of a successful marriage?

I am no authority to comment on marriages. Take me as a man who has the experience of 17 years of married life. And this is applicable not just to marriage but also to other relationships. As a partner you must understand the value of space. Try and put yourself in your partner’s position and this will help you understand the situation in a far better way. One should know what irks your loved one and what makes them happy. We easily say that understanding is the vital to any relationship but the real mantra is to see their lives from their view-point and vision.

An earlier attempt by a rival channel wasn’t fruitful (Kahin na Kahin Koi Hai by Madhuri Dixit). How positive are you about the success of this show?

The two shows are completely different. The former was about bringing in two potential suitors together and shooting with them. Making them converse with each other. But here we are just profiling the suitors. After that if somebody wants to meet them or not is entirely their choice.

Do you think your Rajshri image of an obedient son and doting brother will help you build the connection with the participants?

I think the audiences have related to the characters that I have essayed in Hum Apke Hain Kaun, Hum Saath Saath Hain and Sanjeevani. During the auditions and marketing and research process by the channel, they found out that I am a better option to host the show. I think the goodwill I have earned by playing these characters has helped me emerge as the most preferred choice as host. Also another most important factor was my mother’s image and credibility with the audience.

You have become a proud father for the second time. Tell us about the emotions you are going through.

We have named our second daughter Krishaa. She is four-months-old and has just started smiling. She has come into our lives 16 years after my first daughter was born. My wife had a miscarriage five years ago. After that she wasn’t able to conceive. Interestingly, my first daughter was born after my mother passed away and my second daughter was born just after my father passed away. I feel that my family was always meant to be of four members.

What does your elder daughter want to be?

My elder girl Pranutan is doing her graduation in commerce right now. She wants to pursue MBA abroad. She is also learning dance.

What kind of father you are?

I am a strict disciplinarian. I think it is a good thing because I was brought up in the same way. I don’t like girls who wiggle out of siuations and are dodgy about telling their parents their whereabouts. I have always told my elder daughter that she should tell me everything because there is nothing that she could do that would make me turn my back on her. I say, ‘I will always be your father; you can take that for granted but just be honest.’

How is it working with your wife in Dil Mil Gayye? Would you like to come together in a reality show?

Yes, she started working two months after Krishaa was born. It feels nice to have the opportunity to be together at the work-place as well. Talking about reality shows why not if the opportunity interests us?

TV mainly focuses on women, where do you see yourself in this scenario?

No matter how much you desire you girls can’t walk alone all the way! You definitely need us in your lives. So whenever you need us we will give you the desired support. On a serious note, I do agree that television today is predominantly targeted at female audiences. This results in less work for an actor like me. Also when I am reading a script, I realise I am not the central point of the script but certainly one of the major pillars of the show. But this is okay to me as even I would not want to be hooked up with one show for 20 days a month. I want to go and shoot for my second show because then I would get a chance to work with a different set of people. This is how it has been throughout my 28 years of acting life.

You have done a gamut of roles and even played a host. Was this a deliberate attempt?

No it has never been a deliberate attempt. I am very grateful to have been offered different roles. What normally happens is that an actor especially a character artist gets typecast in a particular character. And when you hang up your boots or the image loses its sheen after 8-10 years, another face surfaces to replace you. I feel very fortunate that I am being offered diverse roles. I remember when I was shooting for Rajshri’s Hum Saath Saath Hai, Salman (Khan) told me something very interesting. He said, ‘Moni, you know that you are the lead in this film.’ Taken aback with his statement I told him I wasn’t the lead but he was. Then he said, ‘Though I might be the romantic lead but story-wise you are the lead. You are the principle figure in the movie.’ He asked me whether I would accept a similar role after the movie was complete and I said no, I’d be mad to do it. It takes good many years to be offered such strong roles.

Which is your most memorable TV work that you have done?

It has to be the role of Dr. Shashank from Sanjeevani and Vikram from Devi.

'I Am Happy To Have My Natural Hair In The Show : Agle Janam...' - Sukriti Khandpal

Sukriti Khandpal has come a long way from being the girl in micro minis in Jersey No. 10 to playing the complex character in Agle Janam..

Sukriti Khandpal has come a long way from being the hot girl seen in micro minis in Jersey No. 10 to playing the complex character of Siddheshwari in Zee TV's Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, produced by Swastik Pictures.

Talking about her journey, the actress says, "Yes, it is hard to believe that I have had a variety when it comes to my roles. People close to me keep saying that I am lucky to have got different characters to portray in just a few years. I cherish Jersey No. 10 as it was my launch vehicle on television. And then came Dill Mill Gayye which gave me enormous popularity. Agle Janam makes me happy as it is a kind of role that I always wanted to play".

The one aspect she likes in her present character of Siddheshwari in Agle Janam is that she is allowed to keep her curly hair on screen. "It's a totally different avatar here, but the biggest plus is that I have my natural hair in my show (smiles). I had some initial problems managing the sari and heavy jewelry, but I have now got adjusted to it", quips the girl.

On her role in the Zee show, Sukriti verbalizes, "Siddheshwari surely appears to be a childish character, who is always interested in her hair, makeup, jewels etc. Basically, she loves to get all decked up. But there is much more to her character, as she feels upset over the fact that she is not able to give the family a heir. Though she does not allow her emotions to come to the fore, there will come a stage when she will start missing her husband. I really do not know what the creatives have in store for future, but mine is certainly a character which will have a long journey with varied emotions to portray".

Sukriti simply loves the production house and her co-actors. "Sushmitaji is very sweet; we all have a great time on the sets. I like sharing screen space with Ratan and Abhishek", she states.

The actress is excited over the fact that Agle Janam has been setting new records with its TRPs. "I have always got good shows, and I am glad that I am part of this show which is soaring high in numbers", quips the beautiful lady.

She wants to focus on Agle Janam as of now, so that she gets enough time to be with her family. "My mother was bit unwell for the past few days, and my sister is also on the road to recovery. So I want to spend my leisure time at home, being of help to them. But having said this, if any strong character comes my way, I don't mind taking it in addition to Agle Janam", concludes Sukriti.

Low Marks v/s High Votes...

Karan and Nicole find themselves at the bottom this week too in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa..

Karan Singh Grover has been one contestant who is strongly placed when it comes to junta votes on Sony's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Even though the popular actor has been getting some rough treatment from the Teen Deviyaan courtesy his mediocre performances, his fans have always bailed him out, so much so that he has never had to be in the Dance-Off..

This week was not different at all, as Karan and Nicole ended up being the lowest scorers yet again!! "All three finalists had to perform on three different dances. The first performance was a solo, second was with the choreographer and third was a common song from Kisna. In this Karan was the lowest and managed to get 93 points out of 120 from judges", says the source.

Elaborating on the first performance our khabroo adds, "Karan performed on the song Jaan Main Dum… and he fared decently well, but the judges felt that the music was fast and Karan was trying hard to catch on with the pace of the song".

"Secondly he performed on the song O Maria from the film Josh, and he got good comments for this particular act. The judges appreciated his dance and also said that he had the perfect attitude required for the number. Saroj stated that she is fida on his performance, while Vaibhavi commented that his postures and expressions were very nice", adds the informer.

Lastly he performed on the common song Kisna Hai… from the movie Kisna. "This was his weakest performance as per the judges. Vaibhavi quipped that there was no synchronization. The judges felt that he kept losing his steps even though he managed to complete the whole act. Saroj said that Karan is like a small kid who keeps forgetting his steps", chirps the little birdie.

Prabhu Deva was the celebrity guest on the panel of judges this week. "He gave him decent marks. Basically he was not harsh on any of the participants", concludes the source.

For Karan, the battle now is to show his prowess on the dance floor and please his fans even further!!

Rahul and Muskaan's Love Back On Track Again

The story track of Dill Mill Gayye will finally focus on the duo falling in love...

Star One's Dill Mill Gayye has many parallel stories going on, but lately we haven't seen much of Dr. Rahul (Mayank Anand) and Dr. Muskaan (Drushti Dhami) in the show. Well the buzz now is that focus will finally shift to them.

We called Mayank to know when we can see his love story brewing. "You will soon see me more in the frame but I don't know how the team is planning the storyline. For that you need to speak to the production team", says the actor.

As per our sources, "In the coming episodes, there will be a love track between Rahul and Muskaan. Currently they have been fighting and staying away from each other."

Elaborating on the storyline our source adds, "Currently the track focuses on Riddhima and Armaan. Along side, preparations are on for Kirti's marriage, and this is where Rahul and Muskaan will be seen in one frame after a long time."

"This can be termed as a turning point in their lives. In other words, it's going to be the start of their love story, but things will take place slowly," concludes the source.

This is one more interesting track in offer to the loyal fans of the show...

Dr. Nikita (Shweta Gulati) Turns Detective Nani's Assistant

Actress Shweta Gulati, better known as Dr Nikita from Dill Mill Gayye is happily shy these days! Come Tuesday and her fans will see this pretty actress on the big screen in a film titled Detective Nani. Directed by ad filmmaker Romila Mukherjee, this film was pending release for quite some time and is finally going to see the light of the day.

Explains Shweta, "We shot for this some five years back and you will be able to see how different I looked then! In fact, now when I see the film, I find my performance pretty amateurish. But nevertheless I am happy that the film is finally seeing the light of the day."

Is she playing the detective in the film? "No! I am playing a character called Neeti who is 16 years old and is Nani's (played by the veteran Ava Mukherjee) second in command. I have very fond memories of the film as I worked with a number of kids and shared a great rapport with them."

Talking about her character in Dil Mill Gayye Shweta says, "It's been nine months and I am very happy to be a part of a Cinevistaas’ project. The cast of DMG simply rocks. All of us are great buddies and the show is the result of great team work.I am very happy with the way my character is shaping up and there is every chance of me falling for Dr Modi (Amit Tandon)!"

Shweta is also completely at ease with the new Dr. Riddhima. "This is not the first time that a daily soap is replacing its female lead. It happens in other shows as well. It is true that initially people take time to digest the fact that their favourite actress is not part of the show any more, but gradually they get used. And as long as the actress delivers, it is not a problem." Currently Jennifer Winget is playing Dr. Riddhima.

Since DMG is one of the few serials doing reasonably well what is Shweta's take on the reasons for failures of other shows? "I guess it is a combination of TRP and recession. This is leading to all the existing shows being in the danger zone. As an actress, I am not really worried about TRPs. That is the headache of the channel. I feel, my concern should be to deliver and give that extra to satisfy my fans," says Shweta.

"Whenever a kid or a fan came to me and congratulated me for Remix or Zara Nachke Dikha I felt very satisfied," says the actress who is currently doing a weekly show called Panah. Produced by Babloo Panchasia, Shweta is playing an unwed mother and is being aired on a national channel. On the personal front, she thinks marriage will take time. "My parents are tired of chasing me!" says the actress who stays alone to get that much needed personal space.

New Faces Entery In Dill Mill Gayye

After roping Jennifer Winget the makers are now planning to cast fresh faces to play new interns in Dill Mill Gayye. There were rumours that the show would go off air and after this would come the next season of the show. Currently all we can surmise is that the show is going in for a revamp of sorts to help up the TRPs and get rid of viewer fatigue.

A source says, “Though Dill Mill Gaye is one of the most loved shows on television there are talks on for casting new faces because people want to see some fresh faces in the show.”

To get the right perspective we contacted the production house Cinevistaa’s fiction head Sharad Raj who said, “Well things are on premature level as of now. We may rope in some new faces to play new interns as people want to see new faces in the show.”

He rubbished the news of the show going off air and said, “No, the show is not going off air, it will remain as it is. Only new faces may be taken in and I cannot disclose more than that.”

We tried contacting some of the actors from the show but they remained tight-lipped about the buzz.

Karan and Nicole Disappoint Judges Again

Karan Singh Grover and Nicole were the lowest scorers this week in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa's Semi Final episode..

Sony's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa will see the Top Four contestants battling it out in the Semi Final Round this week. Every contestant will be performing on two different acts.

Karan Singh Grover was the one to score the lowest marks this week. Talking about his first act, our source says, "Karan and Nicole performed on the Tapori theme on the number 'Main Laila Laila', wherein Karan was the patient and Nicole, the nurse. Saroj Khan felt that Karan could not fit in the character of the tapori guy. He was doing it because he was supposed to do it. Vaibhavi said that the effort could be seen, but it was not a phadu performance. The duo got 25 points for the act".

Their second act was on a contemporary dance form where they had to dance accordingly to the rewind, pause, stop, fast forward effects. "The number they danced on was Tere Bin from Bas Ek Pal. The judges were all praise for the concept and style. However, Vaibhavi felt that Karan did very less of dancing, while Nicole was at her best. Juhi also agreed to Vaibhavi, and said that her scores will reflect her mind. The duo managed to get a meager 18 out of 30 for this act, which gave them a grand total of 43 out of 60 for the week", explains our khabroo.

Well, looks like Karan will have to tighten his grip on the dance floor to win this competition from here…

'I am very clumsy in real life' - Shweta Gulati

Shweta Gulati simply loves mangoes and junk food, and has had some embarrassing moments when it comes to her food pattern...

Is there any particular dish you cling on?
In this season, my heart craves to have mangoes. Also, I am a total junkie, and love to eat Pav Bhaji, Sev Puri etc. You name it and I love it.

Which is your favorite sweet dish?
Rabadi

Your favorite ghar ka khana?
I like lot of dishes, but the best combination is Dal chawal, Dahi, Achar, Papad.

What is your specialty?
I cook lovely Mutton Curry.

Is there any food that you would not eat as a child, but eat now?
Yes my mom never used to allow me to have eggs when I was a kid, the reason being that my body is very hot, and eggs usually heaten up your body. But now that my mom does not stay with me, I eat everything (smiles).

What is the most expensive restaurant you have been to?
The Restaurant in J W Marriot.

Do you have food fights?
I am a very poor eater, and if you do not give me anything to eat, I will still go with it. I am not a foodie at all, but I love eating junk food. Having said this, I will fight for any of my favorite dish if required.

How do you start your day?
A glass of warm water with lemon juice and honey in it.

Do you drink alcohol?
Very occasionally.

What is the strangest dish you have ever tried?
I don't experiment with cuisines. Also I never play around with dishes and restaurants. I end up sticking to the dishes and hotels I like.

Do you get advised by people to follow a proper diet?
Yes, this happens always!! I don't eat at a proper time and don't usually follow a proper diet. So all tend to shout at me and I get loads of advices.

Any embarrassing situation you have faced while eating your food?
There are so many as I am very clumsy in real life. I have done many things in the restaurants, for example, I have fallen down with the food plate in my hand, I have accidentally poured cold drink on my plate while eating, I have broken cutleries in restaurants etc (laughs).

“There is a lot more to me than acting”- Mayank Anand

That would be Dr. Rahul Grewal from Dill Mill Gayye; the one who gets the hearts of girls to skip a beat. You don’t have to go too far to find that out…for his facebook profile is filled with laudatory comments on a daily basis. Also, very lately, he was called back on the show, on popular demand, from the break that he had taken to write his book.

Yes, while he was busy writing his first [yet to be published] book titled “Love from the Sidelines’, his fans were busy signing petitions to be sent to the producers. Now that’s called a strong fan following.

But he doesn’t let the fame get to his head and indulges in various creative forms of expression. Acting, writing and another one being painting. He jokes about following Mayankism [instead of Buddhism, Hinduism etc] while working on his Shiv Shakti series of paintings.

A humble Xavierte, Mayank did his schooling from Bishop Cotton in Shimla, after which he completed his graduation in English Literature, English Writing and Theatre performance from Knox College in the US.

The jovial Mayank thinks it’s the accent that he shipped back along with him that gets him the NRI roles. For, in his show Hotel Kingston on Star One, he played an NRI boy friend. The recent track on Dill Mill Gaye has him come back from the US too. Apart from the NRI roles he managed to perform well in Hello Dollie on Star Plus, Bombay Talking on Zee Café and Na Na Karte [ a telefilm] on Star One. All this talent also helped him in his VJing on the Cinesong show on Zee Music.

As if acting, writing and painting wasn’t enough you would also find Mayank pick up white canvas shoes and redesign them. His designing flair probably stems from the jobs that he did while in US. He worked as an assistant art director in an advertising firm in Chicago while his articles, theatre reviews, poems and short stories got published in various magazines and newspapers in the US. He also designed and built custom made furniture in the US and conceptualized and designed sets for various plays in the US alongside.

Characterized by originality and expressiveness, the creative tasks are his way of uncluttering his mind. If variety is the spice of life, this guy certainly leads one tasty life.

Dill Mill Gayye...Dangerous Fight In Boxing Ring : NEW PROMO

"IF YOU LIKE MY WORK, PLEASE BE THIS BLOG FOLLOWERS"

Fight Between Sunaina Gulia (Dr. Anjali) and Pankit Thakker (Dr. Atul)

A recent misunderstanding between Sunaina Gulia and Pankit Thakker seems to have affected their friendship... Read to know more..

The on-screen fights of Dr. Atul and Dr. Anjali in Star One's Dill Mill Gayye
became a reality when a certain misunderstanding lead to a fight between Sunaina Gulia ( Dr. Anjali) and Pankit Thakker (Dr. Atul).

According to our source, "The Dill Mill Gayye team has been shooting back to back as they do not have enough episode banks. One day, it so happened that the entire cast was getting ready to pack up when the production house requested Shweta Gulati, Pankit and Sunaina to stay back for a particular scene. The trio readily agreed to finish the scene and all was fine".

"But in the middle of the shot, Sunaina heard Pankit and Shweta (Dr. Nikita) talking and believed that Pankit was bad-mouthing her. Sunaina immediately grew wild and blasted at Pankit. There was a big chaos on sets and as a result of this, both the actors are not on talking terms", explains our source.

When contacted Pankit aka Dr. Atul, he said that, "I am sure that I wasn't at fault here. I refuse to accept this behavior by someone".

We got in touch with Sunaina aka Dr. Anjali who quoted, "This is very personal. We have worked together for so long a time now, and such things tend to happen. But all is fine now, and we still share a good working relationship".

Well, wonder whether things are really fine between the two!! Only time will tell…

Sukriti Khandpal in Zee TV's 'Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo'

The ex Dr. Riddhima enters Zee's Agle Janam as the parallel lead who is married to the male lead...

Sukriti Khandpal, the ex Dr. Riddhima of Dill Mill Gayye is back in action in a new avtar as she enters Zee's Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, produced by Swastik Pictures as the parallel lead..

As we reported earlier, Abhishek Rawat who plays the lead in the show essays the role of Loha Singh's (Sudesh Berry) youngest son.

According to our source, "Sukriti will play the wife of the protagonist, and her screen name is Siddheshwari. She is a beautiful princess; a very sweet, innocent and positive girl who is from a rich family. She is totally unaware of the complications that one could encounter in life. She has been married to Rajshekar (Abhishek Rawat) for five years now, but they do not have a child".

We called up Sukriti who confirmed this news, and said, "I am starting shoot from today. My entry will happen on May 4th".

Further confirming our news is Producer Siddharth Tewary who says, "Sukriti has been finalized as the parallel lead. She will play the wife of the male protagonist Rajshekar".

And as the next twist in the track of Agle Janam goes, the protagonist Laali (Ratan Rajput) will be used by the Thakurs for getting the rightful heir of the family.

Guess this is great news for Sukriti fans who have been waiting for her comeback!!
